March Friday Favorites

It's March, one of my favorite months because it's my birthday month! The question is though, how is it already March? WHOA! This year is flying by! Thank goodness spring is on it's way though. This girl is so over winter, and spring fever has set in.

1. These Sam & Libby gladiator sandals.
Target does it again! I snatched these up a few weeks ago at my local Target for $29.99. I think they're adorable and I know I'll get good wear out of them once it gets warm. I got the neutral color, but they also come in black. I'll for sure be packing them when we head to the beach in just a few weeks!

2. Advocare Spark Drink.
This girl, right her, loves her Spark! I have come to love this stuff so much that I now prefer it in the mornings over coffee. I've tried every flavor excluding pink lemonade. Fruit punch and cherry are my first preference, but I also do like watermelon and mandarin orange. It all kind of depends what kind of mood I'm in. I drink this in the mornings to get me going, and before I work out. I also sometimes have it as an afternoon pick me up. I always stay stocked up!

3. Lemon Mint Leaf Candle from Bath & Body Works.
I've said it before, but Bath & Body Works candles are my favorite. They give off a strong fragrance while burning, and they last forever. I also usually have a couple of the wallflower plug-ins too. The Lemon Mint Leaf has a very clean smell and is a perfect scent for transitioning into spring and summer. I will start burning this scent at our house as soon as I finish up my winter candle.

4.  This anniversary date art for the master bedroom.
This is one of my favorite recent pins. I love the idea of having our anniversary date hanging on the wall in our room. I always struggle with what to put in our bedroom because it is just our space. I personally like the things I hang on the walls to have meaning, and this simple little piece would be a perfect addition to anyone's master bedroom. I am keeping this in mind for when we move.

5. This recipe post.
My recipe post for teriyaki chicken stir fry was the most popular post from last month on the blog. It was a readers favorite, and it's definitely a favorite dinner at our house too.

So that's a wrap for this month's Friday favorites! If you check out my "birthday wish list" post from last week those are some other items that you could say are on my current favorites list too. Let's chat! What are you loving lately?

February Wrap-Up.

February was a pretty exciting month for us! Mac attended his first OKC Thunder game, we put our house up for sale, and Mac taking his first steps are all things that took place.

Mac went to his very first sporting event, an OKC Thunder game! We sometimes get tickets through my work, and this time we didn't have a sitter so we just decided to take Mac with us. We went on a Sunday afternoon and the boy loved it!

Mac started taking his bathes in the big bathtub like a big boy. He LOVES bath time and now loves to chase around his trucks in tub while he's getting clean. When he hears bath water running he crawls to the tub as fast as he can; getting a bath is one of his very favorite things to do!

Queenie & Poppie came for an overnight visit. Mac loved having bedtime stories with them.

We got quite a bit of snow, so on our snow day I made a batch of snow ice cream per Clete's request. It was no surprise that Mac loved it!
He kept screaming for more, so I just got out one of his spoons for him to eat it with.

These two are the best of friends! Mac shares his snacks with Honey, and his new thing is playing tug'o war with her. She is really good with him, and they're funny to watch together. Just a boy and his dog.

And that's a wrap for February!

Birthday Wish List

March is sneaking in on us in just a couple days, and that also means my birthday is just around the corner! 27 is going to be a hard year to top with all the excitement we had adding a little one to our family, but I know 28 is going to be great! I've put together a small list of wants I'd love to be gifted so if anyone wants to inform my husband that would be much appreciated. Here's my wish list...
  Birthday Wish List

1. Tory Burch Miller Sandals. I've been eyeing these sandals for quite some time! My mom and sister both have them, and I want to add them to my shoe collection. Plus, they're the perfect sandal for our upcoming beach trip as they can be dressed up or worn casual.

2. 50 mm camera lens. I have come to have a new love for dslr. After attending the Tulsa Mamarazzi workshop in January, I use my camera all the time. I would love to have this little gem that came highly recommended from the workshop leaders. I also need to make the purchase of a lens protector to prevent the lens from getting scratched.

3. Hunter rain boots. I've been wanting a pair of these for a while now. The rain boots I have I got when I was in high school, and that was 10+ years ago, so I think it's almost safe to say these would be considered a need!

4. Kendra Scott Elle earrings. Kendra Scott just recently came to OKC and I've been dying to add some of her adorable and stylish jewelry to my collection but I've had a hard time deciding what I should buy. I've decided I want to add the "elle earring" in black since it will go with 90% of my wardrobe. Anyone who knows me well, knows that black is my preference when it come to clothing color.

5. stella & dot bracelets. The gold "spike" bracelet has been on my want list for quite some time, but other things seem to come up that are greater wants.

So those are a few of the things I'm wishing for this birthday. What kinds of things have been on your wish list?

Teriyaki Chicken Stir Fry

This recipe is an all original of mine! I came up with this one Friday night when we were having the discussion of what to eat and couldn't figure out what to have for dinner. I had all of these ingredients and thought if it didn't turn out we could go grab take out. We had dinner that evening and it was a big hit with the husband, so it's been added to our rotating dinner menu. It's like having Chinese take out, but better and much healthier. I passed this recipe on to my mom and sister, and it's been a hit at both of their houses too. It's a simple recipe the whole family will enjoy!
ingredients
2 large chicken breast
3 cups cooked brown rice
2 cups broccoli
1 yellow onion
1/2 cup carrots
1/2 cup sweet peppers
1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms
2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
pinch of ginger

instructions
1. Salt 'n pepper chicken breast, then bake. (about 25-30 min on 350)
After chicken is cooked and cooled, dice chicken breast. Set aside.
2. While chicken is cooking, clean, dice, and chop your veggies.
Once veggies are ready, place in a sauce pan on the stove top.
3. Add teriyaki sauce and the pinch of ginger.
4. Place lid on pan and let saute until veggies are soft and cooked through.
5. When veggies are tender, add diced chicken to the mixture and stir well.
6. In a bowl, add about 3/4 cup brown rice.
7. Pour 1 cup of chicken & veggie mixture over the top of rice, and serve.
* This recipe makes approximately 4 servings. Each serving has about 280 calories calculated using MyFitnessPal App.

10 months old

In just two short months my baby will be a whole year old. How is this even possible already?! It was just a year ago this coming weekend I was having my first baby shower and getting all the finishing touches on the nursery to welcome our little nugget and now he's transitioning into a toddler. ::sniff.sniff:: Anyways...
Mac is 10 months old today! Just like I say every month, time is going by so fast!! It is so much fun watching our little nugget grow, develop, and learn new things. Mac is pulling up on anything and everything he can. He is walking around while holding on to furniture (or anything he can) and I don't foresee it being too much longer before he's doing it all on his own. He is getting braver every day, and when he falls he usually just gets right back up again! He's gotten a few bumps and boo-boos, but he usually just shakes it off after a kiss from mommy to make it better. He is mr independent, and also has a bit of an adventurous side.
Mac still adores his daddy, and enjoys bath time. He's eating table food better, but he still loves his bottles. I have a feeling that breaking him of the bottle is going to be an obstacle. He loves to play in his room, and is currently partial to his train. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is still his favorite, but he likes most cartoons on Disney. He loves going to daycare while mommy & daddy work, and he also enjoys being outside when it's pretty. He and his sister are becoming the best of friends, and Mac loves playing with her and sharing his snacks with her. He is crawling everywhere and getting into everything! Mac's newest thing is opening up dresser drawers and pulling things out. He's gotten his little fingers smashed a few times but keeps on doing it. He still has 6 teeth, but is trying to cut some more in the back. He is wearing 12-18 month clothes, size 5 shoes, and size 4 diapers. Mac is all boy!

Mac,
It's hard to believe that a whole year has almost gone by since you joined our little family. This time last year we couldn't wait to meet you, and now we cannot imagine life without you. You often keep us on our toes and can be quite ornery, but we wouldn't have you any other way. You're the light of our lives, and your daddy & I's biggest accomplishment. Even though you're quickly transitioning into a toddler, you're still our baby boy. We love you to the moon!
XOXO,
Mommy

Our Weekend Recap!

We had a pretty exciting weekend at our house! Mac attended his very first OKC Thunder game on Sunday! (It was his first game since he's been born, he did attend a few while he was inside mommy's belly.) We were a little concerned with taking him since he's still so young, but he LOVED it! He was completely in awe of all the people and everything going on. It won't be much longer and he'll be begging to go to the games.

The other exciting thing was putting our house up for sale! We have started looking, but first need to see what happens with ours. If you know anyone looking for a great starter home, looking to downsize, or even looking to make an investment in some rental property, we've got a great house in the greater OKC/Edmond area for sale!

That pretty much sums up our weekend in a nutshell. I hope you all had a good one too! It's now back to work, and we'll all be workin' for the next weekend.

January Wrap-Up.

2015 is now well on it's way! January was pretty low key around our house. Nothing too exciting going on. Mac did start to pull up and is walking as long as he's holding on to something. Clete and I attended the Garth Brooks concert in Tulsa with my sister, brother in-law, mom, and a friend. If you're a country music fan of Garth from the 90's, it's a must see! Mac and I took our first trip without daddy, and I attended the Mamarazzi Workshop in Tulsa. Here are a few of my favorite snap shots from the month.

Mac can be such a big boy at times. He loves playing in his room with all his toys. He can also be a little wild man and quite ornery!

GARTH was well worth the wait!

Mac is eating more table food and learning new textures and tastes. It can be entertaining to watch him eat. He also can be the sweetest little boy! He has his mama's heart!

All pictures above were taken with my iPhone. I'm hoping to snap some better pics with my dslr camera this month since I've now had mamarazzi training. ;)
